Chris Hermann, called up from Rochester on Monday, didn’t start in the Milwaukee series but still made an impact. Since Hermann can catch, manager Ron Gardenhire was comfortable replacing Ryan Doumit for defense in the late innings Monday. His replacement, Chris Parmelee, batted in the eighth inning and hit a home run. … The Twins have issued a high traffic alert for both games of the series because of other events taking place at the same time around downtown Minneapolis.

Milwaukee took two of three games from the Twins at Target Field last year but are 4-5 all-time at Target Field. … Estrada pitched seven innings in his last start, tying for the longest outing by a Brewers starter this season. … Ryan Braun needs one more home run to tie Geoff Jenkins for third place on the franchise’s career list. Braun’s 30-game interleague play hitting streak ended Monday.
