TWINS UPDATE

All three starting pitchers will be making their Twins debut this homestand, as will center fielder and leadoff batter Aaron Hicks. … Worley, acquired from Philadelphia over the offseason, struck out 13 hitters and walked only three during six spring-training starts. Worley is 3-1 with a 1.66 ERA in six career April starts. … First baseman Justin Morneau, who missed the final two games of spring training because of tightness in his back, is expected to play. … The Twins went 8-10 against the Tigers last season.

TIGERS UPDATE

Justin Verlander will make his sixth consecutive Opening Day start, but he is 0-1 with a 5.97 ERA in his first five tries. Last year, he shut out Boston on two hits over eight innings in the opener, but Jose Valverde gave up a two-run lead in the ninth. ... Closer remains a problem for the American League champs, who did not resign Valverde. Heir apparent Bruce Rondon was sent to the minors last week, leaving Phil Coke, Joaquin Benoit and Octavio Dotel to share the job. ... Designated hitter Victor Martinez will play his first game since Sept. 28, 2011, after knee surgery cost him all of last year.
