RHP Kevin Slowey (2-4, 3.38 ERA) vs. RHP Radhames Liz (0-0, 0.00)
LHP Glen Perkins (2-2, 3.90) vs. RHP Daniel Cabrera (5-1, 3.60)
RHP Scott Baker (2-0, 4.09) vs. RHP Garrett Olson (4-1, 4.03)
Baltimore went 0-7 against the Twins last year and hasn't won a season series against Minnesota since 2002. Slowey is 2-0 with a 0.60 ERA in his past two starts. After four quality starts, Perkins allowed five runs on 10 hits in four innings against the Yankees on Friday. Baker has been out since May 3 because of a strained right groin but returns to the rotation, nudging Boof Bonser to the bullpen.
After trading Miguel Tejada and Erik Bedard over the winter, the Orioles were a surprising success to start the season but had dropped nine of 11 before beating Boston 6-3 Monday night. After Monday's game, the Orioles called up righthander Radhames Liz from Class AAA Norfolk to start tonight's game. Liz was 1-5 with a 4.05 ERA in 11 starts for Norfolk. The Orioles entered Monday batting .265 at home in hitter-friendly Camden Yards, compared with .229 on the road.
