DENVER - Twins infielder Matt Tolbert is expected to be placed on the 15-day disabled list after suffering a thumb injury in Thursday's game against the Toronto Blue Jays.
The Twins have not named a replacement on the roster.
A bit of a surprise when he made the team out of spring trainingf, Tolbert had a .265 average in 83-at-bats, with no home runs, three RBI and six doubles. He has played second base, shortstop and third base.
Tolbert is the third Twins infielder to be injured recently. Nick Punto is on the disabled list with a hamstring problem and Brendan Harris was out for a couple of days with a similar injury and has not been at 100 percent, even though he's been back in the lineup. Also, shortstop Adam Everett has spent time on the disabled list with arm problems.
The Twins are starting a three-game series, their first interleague play of the year and their first ever in Colorado, against the Rockies at Coors Field tonight.
