Tyner rips Twins for letting him go

Former Twins outfielder Jason Tyner told an Ohio newspaper that he was surprised the Twins let him go -- and he's looking forward to facing them when his new team, Cleveland, plays the Twins next month.

Former Twins outfielder Jason Tyner is unhappy with the Twins for letting him go after last season.

Tyner, who signed a minor-league contract with Cleveland, was called up from the Indian's Class AAA Buffalo team over the weekend.

“I thought I had earned my stripes (in Minnesota),” Tyner told the Medina County Gazette's Chris Assenheimer. “I had a tough role. You’d go a week without playing, but I thought I did my job. I guess they didn’t think about that when they made the decision. I’d like to get a shot at them. I know that.”

Tyner batted .286 with one home run and 22 RBI for the Twins in 2007, spending most of his time in left field. The home run was his only one in a major league career of 1,358 at-bats.
