The Twins have officially announced the signing of right-handed pitcher Kevin Correia to a two-year contract worth $10 million.

Correia had a 12-11 record and 4.21 ERA for Pittsburgh in 2012, including a win over the Twins when the teams played in June.

The Twins were motivated to sign him because he's 46-43 over the last four seasons, liking the fact that he's averaged double-digit wins in recent years. Correia, 32, will join a rotation that includes lefthander Scott Diamond and righthnader Vance Worley. Twins General manager Terry Ryan said on Thursday that the club is not finished with his quest to find quality starting pitching.

Lefthanders Joe Saunders and John Lannan and righthander Brett Myers are among the free agents the Twins have shown interest in this offseason.

The 6-foot-3, 200-pound right-hander was a 2011 All-Star as a member of the Pirates after beginning that season 11-7, the fourth most wins in the majors at the All-Star break.

Correia had previously pitched for San Francisco from 2003-08 and San Diego in 2009 and '10.

He will be paid $4.5 million in 2013 and $5.5 million in 2014.
