TWINS UPDATE

Michael Cuddyer is being activated from the disabled list at the right time. He's a career .312 hitter against the Rangers and is batting .467 against Kevin Millwood. ... Nick Punto also sees the ball well off of Milwood, going 7-for-14 against him with three walks. ... It was interesting watching Denard Span and Carlos Gomez play center field. Span, the coaches say, takes slightly better routes to balls than Gomez. Span, however, doesn't come in as well as Gomez does, so he is positioned closer to home plate than Gomez.

TEXAS UPDATE

There are rumblings that Rangers manager Ron Washington is on the hot seat. His club entered play on Thursday ranked 11th in runs scored and last in ERA and in fielding percentage. The Rangers just brought in Hall of Famer Nolan Ryan as club president to try to sort things out. ... Former Twins reliever Eddie Guardado is expected to be activated from the disabled list this weekend after recovering from a sore left shoulder. ... Texas was 7-2 against the Twins last season.
