Twins minor-league director Jim Rantz said Monday morning that he will retire from the club at the end of the year, according to a statement released by the team.

Rantz, 75, has been a member of the Twins’ organization since its inception in 1961 after signing his first professional contract with the Washington Senators in 1960. He was the winning pitcher for the University of Minnesota in the deciding game of the 1960 College World Series and, after five years as a player and manager in the Twins minor-league system, he joined the front office.

He has been the team's minor-league director since 1986.

Rantz was named to the Twins' Hall of Fame in 2007.
