Headed this way

The Twins avoided facing Mariners ace Felix Hernandez last weekend in Seattle, but he's scheduled to pitch Monday night at Target Field, opposite Liam Hendriks. In his past 13 starts, Hernandez is 8-0 with a 1.53 ERA, with 95 strikeouts and 16 walks. That includes his Aug. 15 perfect game against the Rays.

Now leading off ...

Baltimore's Nick Markakis isn't your prototypical leadoff hitter, with one stolen base this year. But with Brian Roberts and Nolan Reimold on the disabled list, the Orioles have Markakis batting first, and he's a big reason they've stayed in the race. In his first 39 games atop their lineup, Markakis batted .341 with a .392 on-base percentage and .518 slugging percentage.

Little Leaguer fans

Televisions in major league clubhouse are often tuned to the Little League World Series this time of year. When Canada center fielder Thomas Neal made his diving catch against Mexico, All-Star outfielders Mike Trout (@Trouty20) and Adam Jones (@SimplyAJ10) raved about the play on Twitter. Twins highlight-reel machine Ben Revere (@BenRevere9) tweeted, "O wow ... that was pretty legit!!!"
