The Twins haven't said who will be called up to fill the opening on their 25-man roster, but indications are that it will be Class AAA Rochester outfielder Matt Carson.

The move was announced Thursday by Carson's agency, Paragon, on Twitter. "#Twins have called up OF Matt Carson! Congratulations Matt!" the tweet reads under the handle @ParagonSportInt.

Carson, a non-roster invite to spring training, is batting .277 with 14 homers and 49 RBI in 110 games with the Red Wings.

Rob Antony, Twins assistant general manager, said no official announcement would come from the club until Friday.

With outfielders Denard Span (right collarbone) and Ben Revere (right ankle) nursing injuries, Carson would give the Twins flexibility. Revere injured his ankle on Wednesday but came back to hit a triple during a loss to Detroit. It's unclear if the ankle has given him problems since.

Chris Parmelee has been the hot bat at Rochester, hitting .346 with 15 homers and 41 RBI in 51 games. He can play the outfield, but has been playing first base recently for the Red Wings.

Carson, 31, played 46 games with the Oakland Athletics in parts of 2009 and 2010.
