Phil Miller covered three seasons of Twins baseball, but that was at a different ballpark for a different newspaper. Now Miller returns to the baseball beat after joining the Star Tribune as the Gopher football writer in 2010, and he won't miss the dingy dome for a minute. In addition to the Twins and Gophers, Miller covered the Utah Jazz and the NBA for six years at The Salt Lake Tribune.

Duensing heads to mound, as Twins look to extend Cleveland's losing streak to 12

CLEVELAND -- The Twins can’t concern themselves with Cleveland’s misery.

Minnesota’s own hole was dug too deep back in April to think about an opponent suffering through the misery of an 11-game losing streak. The Twins have a chance to sweep this three-game series today and tie the Indians for third-place; and it’s an opportunity they must seize.

The Indians are 10-24 against lefthanded starters, and the Twins will have lefty Brian Duensing on the mound, coming off his best two starts of the season. Cleveland counters with Justin Masterson, who has a 7.71 ERA in his past six starts.

After a three hour, 40 minute game last night, the turnaround will be quick. First pitch today is at 11:05 a.m. (Central).
