TWINS UPDATE

The trip to Boston hasn't been pleasant for the Twins in recent years, as they are 1-10 in Fenway Park since 2007. It has been particularly rough on Twins pitchers, but Brian Duensing enters with a career record of 0-1 with a 2.70 ERA there and Blackburn's numbers (0-1, 4.50) aren't that frightening. It will be up to rookies Sam Deduno and Cole De Vries to provide pitching that belies their experience. ... Ben Revere enters the series riding a career-high 15-game hitting streak, batting .355 during that run. ... Twins lefthanded hitters Joe Mauer (.350), Denard Span (.333), Ben Revere (1-for-3) and Ryan Doumit (2-for-3) have had success against Lester.

RED SOX UPDATE

Remember how bad things were last season when the Twins used the disabled list 27 times? Boston has used it 26 times for 22 different players. David Ortiz is on the DL because of a strained right Achilles' tendon. He's eligible to come off the DL but still is limping. ... Entering Wednesday, Red Sox players have missed a total of 1,069 games because of injuries. ... Mike Aviles is batting .286 against Duensing and .545 against Blackburn. ... Boston swept a three-game series at Target Field in April.
