TWINS UPDATE

The Twins are 4-9 since the All-Star break, and through 98 games they are six games worse than they were last year, when they went 63-99. ... With Anthony Swarzak on the disabled list, the long relief role looks to be all Brian Duensing's. He pitched four scoreless innings against the White Sox on Monday after Francisco Liriano was knocked out in the third inning. But the Twins might need Duensing to help Tyler Robertson with late-inning matchups against lefthanded hitters. ... Twins pitchers have given up 10 home runs over their past five games. ... Diamond pitched the Twins to 6-3 victory over Cleveland on June 3. ... Justin Morneau is batting .329 over his past 20 games.

INDIANS UPDATE

Cleveland is in need of starting pitching help as the trade deadline nears. Derek Lowe shut out the Twins at Target Field on May 15 to improve to 6-1, but since then the veteran is 2-8 with a 7.59 ERA. Fausto Carmona, er, Roberto Hernandez is finally in the country after his identity theft capers, but he is still under suspension by Major League Baseball until Aug. 11. ... Outfielder Shin-Soo Choo is batting .364 with a homer in five games against the Twins this season. ... Cleveland had scored three runs or less in 11 of its first 13 games after the All-Star break, but Thursday night they scored four seventh-inning runs off Justin Verlander to beat the Tigers. ... The Indians have eight sacrifice bunts all season.
