TWINS UPDATE

Drew Butera's stock as a backup catcher couldn't be higher. He has been instrumental in Liriano's revival and helped Samuel Deduno on Sunday earn his first major league victory. "He mixes it up and realizes what the hitters are doing and does a very good job of it," Twins manager Ron Gardenhire said. ... It's back to where it all began for De Vries, who made his major league debut on May 24 in Chicago. The Twins lost that game 11-8. ... This is the third series of the season between the teams. Chicago took two of three games from the Twins in each of the first two.

WHITE SOX UPDATE

Gavin Floyd (right elbow tendinitis) will be activated from the disabled list prior to Monday's game and start against the Twins. He was 3-1 with a 1.37 ERA in four starts before landing on the DL. ... Chicago has hit 11 homers in six games against the Twins this season and has outscored them 35-28. ... Chicago had used 23 pitchers this season -- and 10 rookies. With the division title at stake, the White Sox needed veteran help and dealt for Astros closer Brett Myers on Saturday. ... White Sox second baseman Gordon Beckham is only 1-for-14 in his career against Liriano.
