TWINS UPDATE

Liriano started his latest resurgence on May 30 with six shutout innings against Oakland at Target Field. ... Justin Morneau has a 10-game hitting streak. He has only one home run since June 4 -- that lone homer coming Friday in Texas -- but during this streak, the first baseman has raised his batting average from .229 to .246. ... The Twins will induct Camilo Pascual into their Hall of Fame in an on-field ceremony before Saturday's game. Pascual led the AL in strikeouts from 1961 to '63.

ATHLETICS UPDATE

Manager Bob Melvin's team closed out a surprising first half by winning six of seven against Texas, Boston and Seattle, pulling back to .500. Oakland ranks last in the AL at 3.71 runs per game, but with strong pitching and defense, the A's lead the league in fewest runs allowed per game, at 3.61. ... Griffin has pitched six innings and given up two or fewer earned runs in each of his three major league starts, but he still seeks his first victory.
