NEW BRITAIN ROCK CATS

Location: Eastern League (Class AA)

Affiliation: 18th season affiliated with Twins

Top prospects: CF Aaron Hicks, No. 1 pick (14th overall), 2008; RF Oswaldo Arcia, rated Twins' fifth-best prospect before 2012 season; LF Joe Benson, second-round pick in 2006, out after wrist surgery.

Notable seasons: 3B Michael Cuddyer, 2001: .301, 30 HR, 36 2B, 87 RBI, 75 walks; 1B Doug Mientkiewicz, 1998: .323, 16 HR, 45 2B, 88 RBI, 96 walks; RHP Mike Lincoln, 1998: 15-7, 3.22 ERA, 109 strikeouts.

About the ballpark: New Britain Stadium, cap. 6,146. Squeezed into a city park between a high school football stadium and Beehive Field, the team's home until 1997, the stadium is known for its weekend fireworks display. Thick groves of trees beyond the outfield walls give the park a rural feel. Since home plate is situated in a northwest direction, an unusual configuration for a ballpark, the sun sets behind the left fielder.

About the town: New Britain is a suburb of Hartford, Connecticut's capital city, and is located just 5 miles from Bristol, home of ESPN. The city has had minor league baseball since 1983, when Bristol Red Sox owner Joe Buzas moved the team to a more favorable stadium situation. The Rock Cats still sell New Britain Red Sox T-shirts in their souvenir store.

Cost of a seat behind home plate: box seat, $12
