FIRST IMPRESSIONS

Staff writer Joe Christensen's impressions of key Twins newcomers -- the four players obtained from the Mets for Johan Santana plus veteran free-agent signee Livan Hernandez -- on the first day of official workouts:

DEOLIS GUERRA

The first thing you notice is his size -- 6-5, 200 pounds -- and he's still 18.

PHILIP HUMBER

Looks like Cleveland manager Eric Wedge. But Humber is a better quote.

KEVIN MULVEY

For 22, he certainly looks polished, even in a brief bullpen session.

CARLOS GOMEZ

In his looks and confident demeanor, he reminds me of Carlos Beltran.

LIVAN HERNANDEZ

He was the only pitcher that was wearing a windbreaker. Apparently, he likes to sweat.
