The Twins might have found a starting pitcher in veteran righthander Jason Marquis.

According to a foxsports.com report, the Twins are close to an agreement with Marquis, 33, who is 104-98 in his career and was 8-6 with a 4.43 ERA in stints with Washington and Arizona last season.

Marquis' best season was 2004 with St. Louis, when he went 15-7, 3.71. He never has pitched in the American League. His fastball, according to fangraphs.com, averaged 89.3 miles per hour last season, but he's avoided giving up a lot of homers in recent seasons.

Starting pitching has been a priority for the Twins throughout the offseason, but they have been turned off by the prices for second- or third-tier arms.
