Twins sign eight to minor-league deals

The Twins have signed eight minor-league free agents, with many destined for Class AAA Rochester, according to Jim Mandelaro, of the Rochester Democrat & Chronicle.

Two already had been reported: lefthander Phil Dumatrait and outfielder Brian Dinkelman.

Also added were reliever Brendan Wise (5-2 with a 1.90 ERA last year for Class AAA Toledo); outfielders Matt Carson and Wilkin Ramirez, and righthanded pitchers Jared Burton, Samuel Deduno and Luis Perdomo.

Burton spent parts of the past five seasons with the Cincinnati Reds, going 10-3 with a 3.40 ERA in 164 appearances, but started last season on the disabled list after having right shoulder surgery. Deduno was the 2009 Texas League Pitcher of the Year and made the Padres’ Opening Day roster last season.

Ramirez played in 20 games with the Atlanta Braves last season.
