TWINS UPDATE

The Twins went 2-9 on their 11-game homestand, and the only victories came against A.J. Burnett and Brad Penny, two pitchers who have struggled this year. ... Jason Kubel, who hit a two-run homer into the upper deck in right-center at Target Field on Sunday, has 12 homers in 36 games at U.S. Cellular Field. ... Alex Burnett has made five consecutive scoreless appearances for the Twins, spanning six innings, lowering his ERA from 6.08 to 5.40. ... The Twins are 7-4 against the White Sox this year, but Chicago has won four of past five games.

WHITE SOX UPDATE

The White Sox (66-65) moved back above .500 by sweeping three games in Seattle but couldn't gain any ground on the first-place Tigers. ... Dayan Viciedo batted .297 with 20 homers for Class AAA Charlotte while designated hitter Adam Dunn continued to struggle. After finally returning to the big leagues, Viciedo connected for a three-run homer Sunday. ... A.J. Pierzynski (hairline fracture of his left wrist) is heading to Charlotte for a rehab, so Tyler Flowers has been handling most of the catching duties. ... Mark Buehrle is 3-1 with a 2.61 ERA in his past six starts and has been brilliant against the Twins this season, going 1-1 with a 0.39 ERA in three starts, allowing only 11 hits in 23 innings.
