LHP Francisco Liriano (2-5, 7.07) vs. RHP Felix Hernandez (4-3, 3.36)

TWINS UPDATE

This is their first meeting with the Mariners this year. They went 6-4 against Seattle last year, including 3-4 at Safeco Field. Baker is 2-0 with a 1.59 ERA in his past four road starts, but he had a disappointing game at home Wednesday, giving up five runs over 41/3 innings in a 9-7 loss to the Tigers at Target Field. Liriano said he felt dizzy and had a hard time breathing during Tuesday's 10-2 loss to the Tigers. For the second time since his no-hitter on May 3 against the White Sox, he'll be pitching after a full week of rest.

MARINERS UPDATE

The Mariners were 16-17 but lost six consecutive games before getting rained out the past two days in Cleveland. Brandon League is 0-4 with three blown saves and a 30.00 ERA in his past four outings. Pineda is a leading Rookie of the Year candidate with 45 strikeouts in 441/3 innings. Hernandez went 1-1 with a 2.40 ERA in two starts against the Twins last year, en route to the Cy Young Award. He is 3-1 with a 2.60 ERA in his past five starts, though he gave up four runs in five innings Wednesday in Baltimore.
