TWINS UPDATE
Boston took two of three from the Twins in their only other series this season, at the Metrodome in early May. The Twins will be most interested in seeing how their young players fare at Fenway, where the fans make every game feel like a playoff game. Bonser will be making his first start since Sept. 10. He started the year 4-1 but is 3-11 in his past 14 decisions. Slowey is 1-0 with a 1.38 ERA in two starts since returning to the rotation.
RED SOX UPDATE
The Red Sox will look to clinch their first AL East title since 1995 during this series. Manny Ramirez returned to the lineup Tuesday after missing 24 games because of a strained left oblique muscle. The Red Sox went 12-12 in that stretch without him. David Ortiz continued to flourish without him. Ortiz was having a quiet season, with just 18 home runs through the end of July, but he had eight home runs in August and is batting .358 with seven homers and 24 RBI for September.
