TWINS UPDATE

Joe Mauer is hitless in his past 15 at-bats, and his average has fallen to .295. Justin Morneau's 92-at-bat streak without a home run is the longest of his career. Michael Cuddyer's home run Sunday was his 12th of the season and only his second since the All-Star break. The other middle-order hitters have not produced as much as hoped recently, but Torii Hunter, who has a six-game hitting streak, is batting .354 for August.

MARINERS UPDATE

Seattle is 1-5 against the Twins this season. After dropping two of three to Minnesota at Safeco Field last week, the Mariners bounced back to win three games vs. the White Sox. The Mariners lead the Yankees by a half-game in the wild card, and the Twins are sitting eight back. Seattle considered dropping Ramirez from the starting rotation after the Twins scored six runs off him in their 11-3 victory Tuesday. He is 6-1 with a 4.05 ERA at home but 1-3 with a 13.50 ERA in six road starts.
