The trends don't work in the Twins' favor tonight, as Santana has a 4.36 ERA at the Dome while Chicago's Contreras has a 1.91 ERA on the road.

When the Twins lost 9-8 on Saturday, it was the first time the Twins scored eight runs in a game and lost since June 7 last year at Seattle. The Twins went on to go 71-33 after that game and win the AL Central Division. ... Michael Cuddyer has three five-hit games in his career, but the Twins are 1-2 in those games. ... Outfielder Jason Kubel swings a 31.5-ounce, 33-inch bat but plans to move up to a 32-ounce, 34-inch model because he's hitting too many balls off the end of his current bat.

You think the Twins struggle against lefties? The White Sox entered Sunday batting .205 against them, with Jermaine Dye (.176) and Paul Konerko (.200) among the worst. ... Pablo Ozuna, who is batting .294 vs. Santana, was put on the DL after breaking his right fibula and tearing an ankle ligament Sunday. ... Scott Podsednik is out for about a month because of a strained adductor muscle, a big loss to a team that needs him on the basepaths. ... Tadahito Iguchi recently was moved up to the No. 2 spot in the batting order.
