Batgirl shutting down her Twins blog

Last update: May 24, 2007 - 7:26 AM

Author Anne Ursu, the Twins' blogger known as Batgirl, posted Wednesday night that she is shutting down her blog.

A Twin Cities native and Blake School graduate, Ursu moved last year to Massachusetts when her husband, John Broich, took a teaching position at Amherst College.

Ursu told readers in her final post that the demands of being a parent didn't leave her enough time for blogging.

"I simply do not have time to do this blog well," she wrote, "and there is no point in doing it any other way."

Among other things, the Batgirl blog was known for recreating key Twins moments using Legos, which she called "Legovision," and for urging readers -- regardless of gender -- to adopt Twins players as "boyfriends."

She started the blog early in the 2004 season and used the slogan: "Less stats, more sass."

Her blogging slowed in late December with the birth of her son, Dashiell, and other Twins' bloggers had been pitching in to help Ursu by providing posts. Ursu's books include Spilling Clarence, the Disapparation of James and the Shadow Thieves, the first in a young-readers trilogy called the Cronus Chronicles.

The second book, the Siren Song, will be released early next month.
