Crying in their beer

  • Updated: May 20, 2007 - 8:51 PM

The Twins have played at Milwaukee every year since Miller Park opened in 2001, and they have had some success, going 11-10. But Sunday's game, where the Twins blew a four-run lead and lost 6-5, marked the fourth year in a row they let a lead slip away against the host Brewers.

JUNE 19, 2004

Milwaukee 7, Twins 6

Jacque Jones' three-run homer in the sixth inning helped the Twins build a 5-0 lead, but it came apart with Milwaukee's six-run seventh. The Twins tied it on Luis Rivas' home run in the eighth, but Geoff Jenkins blasted a Terry Mulholland curveball for a homer leading off the bottom of the inning.

JUNE 25, 2005

Milwaukee 7, Twins 6

The Twins led 5-2 after 4½ innings with Johan Santana pitching, but the Brewers struck for two in the fifth and took the lead in the sixth when pinch hitter Prince Fielder hit his first major league home run, a 426-foot blast off Jesse Crain with two runners on.

MAY 21, 2006

Milwaukee 5, Twins 3

Boof Bonser went six strong innings in his major league debut, leaving with a 3-1 lead as the Twins looked to sweep. But the Brewers scored four runs in the seventh off the Twins bullpen. Milwaukee had four hits in five at-bats against Crain, taking the lead on Carlos Lee's two-run double.
