TWINS UPDATE
The Twins were interleague kings last season, tying the Red Sox for the best record against NL clubs at 16-2. Joe Mauer led all hitters with a .492 batting average in interleague games. Michael Cuddyer was second with 20 RBI. Francisco Liriano was 5-0, and Johan Santana had a 0.82 ERA. If only this were last season. Mauer is eligible to come off of the disabled list Sunday but isn't close to recovering from a strained left quadriceps, and Liriano is out for the year because of Tommy John-type ligament replacement surgery in his left elbow.
BREWERS UPDATE
Shortstop J.J. Hardy is the most improved player in the game right now. He enters the series batting .320, a big jump over his .242 average of last year and his .247 of 2005. He has 13 home runs, and his next will give him 28 for his career. ... Lefthander Chris Capuano has one of the best pickoff moves in the game. ... Tony Gwynn Jr. is the Brewers' pinch hitter deluxe, going 5-for-15 in that role. ... Former Twin Corey Koskie still is recovering from post-concussion syndrome.
