Righthander Josh Beckett, the MVP of both this year's ALCS and the 2003 World Series for the Florida Marlins, pitches Game 1 for Boston tonight. Beckett is 3-0 with a 1.17 ERA in this postseason. He will oppose lefthander Jeff Francis, 2-0 with a 2.13 ERA for the Rockies. Francis will become the second Canadian to start a World Series game. Boston's Reggie Cleveland was the first in 1975. Today's forecast calls for definite heavy rain through the morning and into the afternoon. There's an 80 percent chance of lingering rain in the early evening, although it is supposed to taper off by gametime.
