The last time the Twins had swept a three-game series from the Mariners in Seattle was Aug. 9-11, 1996. Some notes from those games:
The Twins' winning pitchers were Jose Parra, Scott Klingenbeck and Brad Radke. Frankie Rodriguez had his only two saves of the season.
The Mariners still played in the Kingdome, and their roster included Alex Rodriguez, Ken Griffey Jr. and Randy Johnson. They were managed by Lou Piniella.
Twins shortstop Pat Meares went 8-for-13 in the three games.
