Surviving Seattle

Last update: April 16, 2007 - 8:33 PM

Justin Morneau hails from New Westminster, British Columbia, on the outskirts of Vancouver. The Twins first baseman's major league Pacific Northwest homecomings to Seattle have been adventurous, to say the least.

The good

Aug 12, 2004: Had the first two-homer game of his career in a 6-3 Twins victory.

April 4, 2005: Spent his first major league Opening Day at Safeco Field.

The bad

April 6, 2005: Beaned by Ron Villone; landed on the disabled list because of a concussion.

June 8, 2006: Was batting .235 after a series in Seattle, leading to heart-to-heart talk with manager. Turning point in MVP season.
