• Carlos Silva has a $4.35 million option on his 2007 contract, with a $100,000 buyout. Unlike Hunter's option, the Twins have until five days after the World Series to make a decision on Silva.

• Ryan also is in the process of finalizing contracts for manager Ron Gardenhire's coaching staff, something Ryan hopes to have done in a month. There's no word if Gardenhire, signed through 2007, will receive an extension.

• First baseman Justin Morneau and catcher Joe Mauer were named to the American League All-Star team as selected by The Sporting News. Mauer was the leading vote-getter among AL voters. Twins pitcher Johan Santana was named Pitcher of the Year.
