Jason Bartlett reached on an infield single, scoring Hunter. Kansas City: Twins starter Mike Smith walked Ryan Shealy. Paul Bako reached on an infield single, Shealy advanced to second. Angel Berroa popped out to catcher Mike Redmond. Joey Gathright reached on a fielder's choice to second, Shealy advanced to third, Bako was out at second. David DeJesus singled to left, scoring Shealy. Twins 1, Royals 1

THIRD inning

Kansas City: Shane Costa drew a two-out walk. Shealy hit a two-run homer to left. Bako doubled to right. Berroa tripled to center, scoring Bako. Royals 4, Twins 1

FOURTH inning

Twins: Tyner hit a two-out single to center. Bartlett doubled to left, scoring Tyner. Luis Castillo tripled to right, scoring Bartlett. Royals 4, Twins 3

Kansas City: Mark Grudzielanek singled to center off reliever Matt Guerrier. Dennys Reyes relieved Guerrier. Mark Teahen grounded out to first, Grudzielanek advanced to second. Reggie Sanders reached on an infield single, Grudzielanek advanced to third. Pinch hitter Emil Brown singled to center, scoring Grudzielanek. Twins 5, Royals 5
