Twins' White files for free agency

Last update: October 31, 2007 - 1:09 AM

Twins left fielder Rondell White filed for free agency Tuesday. At season's end, he said he was 99 percent certain he would retire; asked Tuesday if filing meant he wanted to play next year, White replied, "1 percent."

It's not uncommon for players to file for free agency and still retire. Brad Radke did that last season.

Also, the Baltimore Orioles hired Twins scout Lee MacPhail, who is the nephew of Orioles president Andy MacPhail. Larry Corrigan, a Twins special assistant to the general manager, also has been mentioned as a candidate for an executive position under MacPhail, the former Twins GM hired by Baltimore earlier this year.
