Class 4A halftime: Totino-Grace 14, Mankato West 0

Today's Class 4A semifinal between the state's top two teams in Class 4A -- undefeated Mankato West and Totino-Grace -- figured to be a battle between T-G's running game and MW's passing game. So far, it's Totino-Grace winning that battle and the one the scoreboard with a 14-0 halftime lead.

The Eagles have rushed for 111 yards, including 9 carries for 60 yards and two short TDs for John Crockett.

Mankato West sophomore QB Philip Nelson, meanwhile, has been impressive in moving the ball but hasn't been able to get the Scarlets in the end zone. He's 14 of 22 for 163 yards, but an interception in the end zone in the closing seconds of the first half served as a microcosm of MW's game so far. Three times the Scarlets have been to TG's 30, only to come up empty each time.

West gets the ball to start the second half. The Scarlets would be well-advised to put the ball in the end zone soon.
