Both Burnsville and Wayzata - the Nos. 2 and 3 seeds, respectively in the Class 3A state volleyball tournament - swept their matches late this morning at the X.

I sat courtside and watched as Tori Dixon Burnsville swept Farmington 25-21, 25-19, 25-11.

Seriously, though, Tori Dixon is a force. Every time she attempts a kill, the 'smack' of her hand hitting the ball echoes through the X and more often than not it's followed by another sound: either the ball careening off a defender or putting a dent in the floor. She had 25 kills in the match - 11 in the first game alone.

Wayzata defeated Alexandria 25-19, 25-14, 25-20. I asked coach Scott Jackson if he'd watch film between now and tomorrow morning at 11am to get ready for the Trojans semifinal match with the Blaze.

He laughed, then said, "I'm not gonna be watching any film tonight. [It's] Tori Dixon, surrounded by very good players. I'll ask some friends what they know, and then do that."

'Bout sums 'er up right there.
