Injury forced a change in the Forest Lake softball pitching circle but didn't slow the Rangers.

A line drive to the facemask in the Stillwater game on May 3 sidelined starter Megan Baniecke because of a concussion. But sophomore Claire Bakkestuen stepped up, earning victories in four of the Rangers' next six games. She allowed a total of just four earned runs during the stretch.

6-5 lefty dominating

Champlin Park junior Michael Ulland posted two solid outings in the same week against Edina and Armstrong.

He threw a combined 13 innings, striking out four, giving up one earned run and issuing no walks. The Rebels' 6-5 lefthander went the distance against the Hornets. His season record is now 3-1.

Record performance

Elk River/Zimmerman senior attacker Hunter Kivley set the boys' lacrosse program record with nine goals in the Elks' 12-4 victory against Champlin Park. He leads the Elks with 23 goals through eight games this spring.

Gem for St. Agnes ace

St. Agnes sophomore pitcher Jonathan Prokop earned a complete-game 1-0 victory against St. Anthony, the team that was atop the Tri-Metro Conference standings. Prokop allowed six hits and struck out three. It was the Huskies' first conference loss this season.
