In a clash of top teams in Class 1A boys' hockey, No. 4 Breck defeated the visiting No. 3 St. Paul Academy 3-2 to remain undefeated in IMAC play on Saturday.

Picciano scored his second goal of the game off a tip in with 2:08 remaining in the second to make it a one-goal game, but the Spartans could not complete the comeback.

The Mustangs took a 2-0 lead, and after Dom Picciano put the Spartans on the board in the second period, Matt Conroy answered for Breck a minute later.

Picciano scored again in the second period, but that was it for St. Paul Academy. The Mustangs outshot the Spartans 40-21.

Woodbury 3, White Bear Lake 1: The host Royals scored two goals in the third period to upset the Class 2A, No. 15 Bears. Ronnie Sweeney scored at the 3:00 mark of the third period to break a 1-1 tie, and Ben Wahlin sealed the victory with 1:57 left John Conlee stopped 27 shots for the Royals, who got a goal and an assist from Alex Stuckert. Alec Akins scored the lone goal for White Bear Lake.

Wayzata 4, Cretin-Derham Hall 3: The Trojans scored four consecutive goals in the second period to defeat the visiting Raiders. Joe Ocholik got the scoring spree started at the 2:10 mark of the second, and Tyler Stevens and Ryan Mulrenin scored goals 27 seconds apart to give the Trojans the lead for good. Griffin Ness also scored with 3:43 left in the period. Andrew Urban and Colin Schmidt had two assists each for the Trojans. Nick Davison and Nicholas Castro scored first-period goals for Cretin-Derham Hall.

Minneapolis 2, Providence Academy 1: Jake Hale scored a power-play goal 1:27 into overtime to give Minneapolis a victory over the host Lions. Huck Sorock tied the score with 3:38 left in regulation with an assist to Hale. Zach Binger got the Lions on the board 2:56 into the game.

Minnehaha Academy 3, Bloomington Kennedy 2: The Class 1A, No. 12 Redhawks erased a pair of one-goal deficits to defeat the host Eagles. Elliot Dorow Hovland gave the Redhawks their first lead of the game with 7:37 left in the third period. Justin Evenson made the lead hold up for the victory. Devin Dietz stopped 42 shots for the Eagles.

Centennial 4, Andover 0: Carter Wagner had a goal and two assists to lead the Class 2A, No. 6 Cougars past the visiting Huskies. Hayden Brickner had a goal and an assist and Zachary Kelly and Ryan Kranz each scored a goal for the Cougars. Bryce Crowley stopped 19 shots for the Cougars. Ben Fritsinger stopped 38 shots for the Huskies.

Minnetonka 6, Duluth East 0: Jack Bowman, Ryan Elder and David Andes had a goal and an assist each to lead the Class 2A, No. 11 Skippers past the host Class 2A, No. 12 Greyhounds. Max Cavanaugh and Jack Meredith had two assists each for the Skippers. Kirk Meierhoff stopped 37 shots for the Greyhounds.

Girls' hockey

New Prague 2, New Ulm 2 (OT): Down 2-0 after the first period, the Class 1A, No. 8 Trojans rallied to force overtime against the visiting Eagles. Goals by Ashtyn Wiltscheck and Ali Beltz put the Eagles up early, before the Trojans' Kaitlyn Blair scored in both the second and third periods. Sydney Culshaw stopped 25 shots for the Trojans. Karlie Ries finished with 29 saves for the Eagles.

Forest Lake 3, White Bear Lake 2: Kayla Kasel scored two goals, including the game-winner, to lead the Class 2A, No. 11 Rangers over the visiting Bears. Ashley Healy and Sydney Shearen gave the Bears an early 2-0 lead, before Brieja Parent got the Rangers on the board midway through the second period.

Blake 5, Benilde-St. Margaret's 1: The Class 1A, No. 1 Bears scored three goals in the third period to pull away from the host Red Knights. Sarah Chute, Kyra Willoughby, Lily Delianedis, Sara McClanahan and Lucy Burton scored for the Bears. Megan Cornell scored the Red Knight's lone goal.

Prior Lake 8, Eastview 4: Katie Huntington had five goals and an assist and the Lakers scored three empty-net goals in the last 1:24 to pull away from the host Lightning. Claire Hagan had a goal and two assists and Leah Pavlish had a goal and an assist for the Lakers. Lindsay Lewison stopped 25 shots for the Lightning. Natalie Snodgrass scored a goal and had an assist for the Lightning.

Boys' basketball

Orono 76, St. Paul Central 59: Max Bjorklund scored 16 points and Thomas Lecy added 14 to lead the Class 3A, No. 4 Spartans past the visiting Minutemen. The Spartans' Jarvis Thomas finished with 12 points and 11 rebounds. The Minutemen were led by Daveonte Davis with 23 points.

Holy Family 69, Holy Angels 67: Nathan Hendler scored 17 points and Lincoln Cizek added 16 to lead the Fire past the visiting Stars. With the score tied 37-37 at halftime, the Fire did just enough in the second half to prevail. Matthew Waterman and Nick Hendler added 14 and 12, respectively, for the Fire. The Stars were led by Daniel Voxland with 20 points, and Tommy Shelstad added 15.

Brooklyn Center 75, St. Paul Johnson 60: Lu'Cye Patterson scored 28 points to lead the Centaurs past the visiting Governors. Devonta Prince had 12 points and Deshawn Pickford, Andreone Sprinkles and Qentrell Douglas had 10 points each for the Centaurs. Justin Yang led the Governors with 16 points. Jordan Mobley had 23 points and Lamonte White had 10 for the Governors.

Girls' basketball

St Michael-Albertville 69, Eastview 57: Rae Johnson scored 30 points to lead the Class 4A, No. 8 Knights to an upset victory over the host Class 4A, No. 2 Lightning. Makenzie Kramer had 18 points for the Knights. Rachel Ranke scored 19 points to lead the Lightning and Megan Walstad had 13.

East Ridge 62, Rosemount 54: The Class 4A, No. 6 Raptors erased a nine-point halftime deficit to defeat the host Irish. Noelle Torres led the Raptors with 22 points. Mariah Sexe had 17 points and Kelen Kenol had 12 for the Raptors. Maddy Olson had 21 points to lead the Irish and Nicole Elias had 17.

Watertown-Mayer 61, St. Louis Park 52: Claire Killian scored 16 points to lead the Royals over the visiting Orioles. Teammates Olyvia Schroeder and Monika Czinano added 12 points apiece. The Orioles were led by Shayla Miller with 13 points and Kendall Coley with 12.

Champlin Park 76, Waconia 42: The Rebels jumped out to a 24-point halftime lead to cruise past the visiting Wildcats. Erica Hicks scored 24 points for the Rebels, while Allison Gerads and Makayla Johnson added 16 and 14, respectively. Tess Johnson led the Wildcats with 13 points.
