Apple Valley lost a wrestling match to a Minnesota team for the first time since 2006 on Friday, falling to Shakopee 29-28 at Apple Valley in a South Suburban match.

Apple Valley, winner of 11 consecutive team state championships, is ranked No. 1 in the state by the Guillotine, and Shakopee is ranked second.

The Eagles' last loss to a Minnesota team was to Wayzata.

Boys' hockey

Stillwater 5, Lakeville South 3: The Class 2A, No. 2 Ponies rallied from an early two-goal deficit to defeat the visiting Cougars. Luke Manning led the scoring for the Ponies with one goal and two assists, while Jesse Bjugstad, Michael Kaufman, T.J. Sagissor and Noah Cates each scored a goal. Cory Checco scored all three goals for the Cougars.

St. Thomas Academy 5, Eastview 2: Ray Christy scored two goals to lead the Class 2A, No. 6 Cadets past the visiting Lightning. Brendan McFadden, Tommy Winges and Blake Holmes each scored for the Cadets, while Rob Christy added two assists. Lenny Nunn and Jesse Fan scored for the Lightning.

Chaska 4, Holy Angels 3 (OT): Ethan Benz scored the game-winner in overtime to lead the Hawks past the visiting Stars.

Blaine Warnert scored twice, Parker Hanson scored once, and Mike Koster had two assists for the Hawks. Jack Hendrickson, Chad Cousineau and Spencer Sande each scored for the Stars.

Girls' hockey

Lakeville South 5, Chaska/Chanhassen 3: Kyah Orr and Emily Fischler scored third-period goals to lead the Cougars in an upset win over the Class 2A, No. 13 Hawks. The Hawks jumped out to a two-goal lead on scores from Clare Kelly and Emilee Anderson, before the Cougars' Josie Saufferer and Halle Gill tied the score in the second. The teams traded goals midway through the second, the Hawks' Lydia Passolt and the Cougars' Ellie Lauderdale scoring. Gill had three points on one goal and two assists.

Girls' basketball

Lakeville South 56, East Ridge 52: Katie Guentzel scored 20 points to lead the host Cougars to an upset victory over the Class 4A, No. 6 Raptors. The Raptors were led by Noelle Tomes with 17 points.

Holy Angels 75, Minnehaha Academy 73: Megan Thompson scored 17 points to help the Stars, ranked No. 3 in Class 3A, outlast the Redhawks, ranked No. 5 in Class 2A. Junior Terra Rhoades led Minnehaha Academy with 20 points. She scored 14 of those in the first half, resulting in a four-point Redhawks lead at halftime. Sophomore Destinee Oberg scored 16 points and Riley Thalhuber added 11 for Holy Angels (3-0). Mia Curtis added 18 points for Minnehaha (2-1).
