Jackson Hjelle stopped 38 shots to lead Delano past the visiting Breck 5-2 in a matchup of Class 1A boys' hockey powers Tuesday night. The Tigers are ranked No. 4, the Mustangs No. 2.

The top line of John Keranen, Brian Halonen and Ben Meyers scored all five Delano goals. Keranen scored two goals in the second period and earned an assist in the third period. Halonen scored a pair and Meyer had one in the third. Meyer also had four assists.

Will Torgerson got the Mustangs on the board with 6 minutes, 32 seconds left in the third period. Dalton Weigel scored the second Mustangs goal.

St. Michael-Albertville 4, Benilde-St. Margaret's 1: St. Michael-Albertville scored two shorthanded goals in the final two minutes of the third period to pull away from Benilde-St. Margaret's, No. 17 in Class 2A. Ryan Copeland led St. Michael-Albertville with two goals. Cole Lehmann and Carson Wooters scored the other St. Michael-Albertville goals. Peter Moran scored for Benilde-St. Margaret's.

Stillwater 3, East Ridge 1: The Ponies scored three unanswered goals to defeat the host the Raptors. Noah Cates led the Ponies, No. 2 in Class 2A, with a goal and an assist. Austin Murr gave the Ponies a 2-1 lead with 55 seconds left in the second period. Jesse Bjugstad tied the score at 1-1 late in the first period on a power play. Carter VanDenEinde gave the Raptors a 1-0 lead 43 seconds into the game on a power play. Nick Stearns stopped 42 shots for the Raptors.

Woodbury 7, North St. Paul 6: The Royals jumped out to a 7-1 lead just past the midway point of the game and hung on to beat the Polars. Kory Pilarski scored four goals to lead the Polars' comeback attempt. He also had two assists. Joe Reubish had two goals and two assists, and Nathan Conroy had three assists for the Polars. Max Meyer had two goals and one assist to lead the Royals. Ronnie Sweeny and Kurri Anderson had a goal and an assist each and Ben Wahlin had three assists for the Royals. Max Rossman stopped 37 shots for the Polars and John Conlee made 27 saves for the Royals.

Girls' basketball

Wayzata 57, Maple Grove 43: Kallie Theisen scored 19 points to lead the Trojans, No. 9 in Class 4A, past the Crimson. Emily Leighton had 12 points for the Trojans. Rebekah Tyler led the Crimson with 15 points and Katrina Theis had 13.

New Prague 47, Shakopee 42: The Trojans jumped out to a 10-point lead at halftime and held off the Sabers in the second half. Maizie Deihl led the Trojans with 15 points and Taylor Hustad and Emily Russo had 12 each. Brittany West led the Sabers with 11 points.

Minnetonka 79, Prior Lake 74: Megan Walker scored 28 points to lead the Skippers, No. 10 in Class 4A, past the host Lakers. Katey Brattland had 12 points and Kayla Mershon and Natalie Erhard had 10 each for the Skippers. McKenna Hofschild had 29 points for the Lakers and Riley Wheatcraft 27.

Girls' hockey

Wayzata 5, Champlin Park 2: The Trojans scored four goals in the third period to defeat the host Rebels. Natalie Helsing scored two goals and had two assists to lead Wayzata, No. 10 in Class 2A. Alexa Ocel, Maddie McCollins and Sydney Remark also scored for the Trojans. Myka Sutherland and Kaylee Wood scored for the Rebels and Emily Schwartz had two assists.

Eastview 1, Farmington 0 (OT): Natalie Snodgrass scored 3:20 into overtime to lift the Lightning, No. 15 in Class 2A, past the host Tigers. Kaitlyn Pellicci stopped 28 shots to earn the shutout for the Lightning. Abby Bollig stopped 22 shots for the Tigers.

White Bear Lake 5, Park of Cottage Grove 0: Sydney Shearen scored four goals to lead the Bears, No. 16 in Class 2A, past the host Wolfpack. Shearen scored the first three goals of the game, including a pair 13 seconds apart in the second period. Claudia Verkerke also scored for the Bears. Calla Frank stopped 29 shots to earn the shutout for the Bears. Bryce Boreen stopped 30 shots for the Wolfpack.

Chaska/Chanhassen 3, Orono 2: Lydia Passolt broke a 2-2 tie at the 9:07 mark of the second period to lift the StormHawks, No. 12 in Class 2A, past the visiting Spartans, No. 12 in Class 1A. Emma Hinze and Emilee Anderson also scored for the StormHawks. Megan Albers and Nicole Neuberger scored for the Spartans and Madeline Carlson stopped 35 shots.
