Minnetonka beats top-seeded Shakopee: Are Section 2 favorites jinxed? First it was Blake, the No. 1-ranked team in Class 1A all season, losing to Breck in the Section 2 final. Now Minnetonka has done the same thing, beating top-seeded Shakopee 5-2 in the Class 2A, Section 2 final. Shakopee, the No. 1 team in Class 2A to start the season, was held to victories at Nos. 1 and 2 singles. Minnetonka, No. 5 in 2A, won at Nos. 3 and 4 singles and swept the doubles. The Skippers will be making their fourth consecutive state tournament trip.

Baseball

Skippers rally to end skid: Jack Kuzma's two-run double highlighted a four-run bottom of the sixth inning, rallying Class 4A, No. 3 Minnetonka past No. 12 Prior Lake 4-1 in a nonconference matchup. Kuzma, a senior, went 2-for-3 with two doubles. The victory broke a three-game losing streak for the Skippers.

Football

No Foggie after all: Contrary to previous reports, former Gophers quarterback Rickey Foggie will not be the next football coach at Eagan. Foggie, who had coached for two seasons at Red Wing, had been offered the position but withdrew his name from consideration "for personal reasons'' Monday night, School District 196 communications director Tony Taschner said Tuesday. Foggie could not be reached for comment.
