Gameday: Wolves vs. Houston

Last update: December 19, 2008 - 10:06 PM

Preview: Minnesota tries to put an end to its 11-game losing streak tonight with the Rockets in town. The Wolves are coming off a 23-point loss to Cleveland on Wednesday, their sixth consecutive loss under Kevin McHale. Minnesota, though, has had two days off between games for the first time in more than a week. Houston on Friday played at home against Sacramento.

Players to watch: Houston's Yao Ming and the Wolves' Al Jefferson are two of the top centers in the league. Before Friday night's NBA games, Jefferson was second in the league among big men, averaging 21.7 points per game. Yao was fourth, averaging 19.7 points per game.

Numbers: The Timberwolves are 21-19 against Houston at Target Center and lost their lone home game against the Rockets a season ago. In that loss, Jefferson scored 33 points.

Injuries: Timberwolves forward Corey Brewer on Wednesday had surgery to repair the torn ACL in his right knee. He is out for the season. Rockets guards Rafer Alston (hamstring) and Brent Barry (leg) are doubtful. Guard Von Wafer (sprained ankle) is day-to-day. Guard Steve Francis (knee) and center Joey Dorsey (plantar fasciitis) are out.
