Two Prep Bowl participants up for Mr. Football

The 10 finalists for the Minnesota Mr. Football Award have been named, including two players whose teams will compete for state championships this weekend at the Metrodome. Those two are Blaine quarterback James Peterson (Class 5A) and Northfield linebacker Cole Jirik (4A).
The other finalists are Edina quarterback Anders Lee, Pelican Rapids quarterback Tydan Storrusten, Becker running back Jake Gibbons, Atwater-Cosmos-Grove City running back Kurtis Huisman, Brainerd running back Colby Ring, Owatonna offensive tackle Casey Dehn, Orono linebacker Brett Skoog and Apple Valley defensive back Varmah Sonie.
The winner will be announced at the Mr. Football banquet Dec. 13 at the Doubletree Hotel in St. Louis Park.
