Success of backup QB inspires Wayzata coach

Last update: November 11, 2008 - 5:08 PM

In two years as a backup quarterback, Wayzata senior Kramer Berg had thrown just 16 passes, not one of them for a touchdown. That changed late in the Trojans' 38-0 victory over St. Cloud Tech on Saturday in the Class 5A quarterfinals, when Berg threw a perfect strike to A.J. Troup, who had gotten open behind the Tech defense, for a 98-yard touchdown.

After the game, Trojans coach Brad Anderson singled out Berg and the play, telling his team that it was an example of a player who "worked hard and did his job and never complained."
