Can anyone unseat the Robbinsdale/Hopkins/Mound-Westonka adapted softball dynasty? The Robins won a sixth consecutive crown in the PI Division (physically impaired) last season.

In the CI Division (cognitively impaired), South Washington County seeks a repeat. The adapted softball state tournament is Friday and Saturday at Coon Rapids High School. Saturday's championship games begin at 1:45 p.m. (PI Division) and 4 p.m. (CI Division).

Here is a look at some teams in the title hunt.

PI DIVISION

Robbinsdale/Hopkins/Mound-Westonka: Fielding errors have plagued the Robins this season, resulting in 31 more runs allowed than last season.

Jordan Klein pitched every inning, but the entire roster has not been present at any point of the season.

But these Robins can hit, scoring 143 runs and posting a .649 team batting average.

Sophomore shortstop and left fielder Andy Hanson batted .786 and drove in 18 runs. Senior infielder Andy Dubisar hit .727 with 15 RBI. Sophomore shortstop Chaun Johnson posted a .724 average with 14 RBI.

Anoka-Hennepin: The Mustangs earned the No. 1 seed out of the North Division, signaling their title intentions with a 11-0 record featuring three defeats of Robbinsdale/Hopkins/Mound-Westonka.

A potent lineup including Tyler Ezell, Kai France, Joey Manion and Ben Schmitz helped the Mustangs scored 167 runs.

The defense features corner infielders Schmitz and Mia France. Anchoring the outfield are Hana France, Stevey France and Jordan Peschong.

Dakota United: The Hawks soar into the tournament having avenged their only loss this season by beating Rochester.

Strong defense fueled a 9-1 record, led by outfielders Ben Okke, Kyra Patterson, Antonio Rosas and senior captain Liz Kimmes.

Riley Wisniewski is batting .700 and leads the team in runs scored. Nick Kueffler and Grayson Nicolay add to a potent hitting trio.

Coach Brett Kosidowski credited assistant coach Bryan Herzan for improving players' directional hitting this season.

CI DIVISION

South Washington County: The defending champion Thunderbolts (including athletes from Park, East Ridge and Woodbury high schools) are led by seniors Lucas Fiedler and Tristan Rankin. Fiedler, the leadoff hitter, paces the attack while Rankin adds a pinch of power. The Thunderbolts average 13 runs per game.

Defensively, Rankin, the shortstop, and Fiedler, the first baseman, have played together for five seasons.

Pitcher Bryce Smith posted an 8-2 record, thanks in part to Austin Sager's steady glove in the outfield.

Chanhassen/Chaska/Prior Lake/Shakopee: The Southern Stars posted their first undefeated record (11-0) and earned the No. 1 seed from the South Division.

Al Arseneau (22 RBI) and Dre Wilson (19 RBI) became a solid run-producing tandem.

Wilson, the pitcher, is one of four experienced seniors guiding the team, along with first baseman Amber Olson, second baseman Brett Erdman and left fielder Rodney Washington.

Anoka-Hennepin: The arrival of Brandon Marks at first base moved Jarrod Johnson to left field and solidified the outfield. Fellow newcomers Dylan Theroux (pitcher) and Johnathan Glauvitz-Brown (shortstop) also became difference-makers.

A one-two hitting punch sets the tone. Leadoff man Cole Denny batted .667 and Tyler Baron hit .647 from the No. 2 spot. They combined to score 40 runs. Alex Johnson, hitting third, has 14 RBI.

Osseo/Maple Grove/Park Center: Despite only nine players on the roster, the Orioles finished the regular season with an 11-1 record.

Senior pitcher Alex Kreidler won his 50th career game. He got plenty of run support from Tulio Nicklas, Aaron Clark, Cole Brambilla and Marc Bazile. They all hit over .800. Bazile leads with 14 home runs, Nicklas with nine triples. Clark and Brambilla each posted more than 20 doubles. Sophomore Jason Robins leads the team with 37 RBI.

A shortage of players did not hurt the defense. The three-man outfield of Brambilla, Clark and Nicklas has thrown out 37 runners.
