The years pass and the names change, but in the world of high school synchronized swimming, it's been one team treading water above all the others for nearly a decade.

Wayzata won its ninth consecutive synchronized swimming state championship in commanding fashion Friday night. The Trojans were in control from the outset, scoring 151 points and almost doubling up second-place Stillwater, which had 81 points. St. Louis Park was third with 78.

Wayzata's Colleen Donlin and Katrin Ree each had three first-place finishes. Donlin, a junior, won the solo extended and figures extended routines and was a member of the winning eight-member team extended routine. Ree, a senior, also competed with the team extended and took first place in the solo long routine and paired with Hannah Ogren to win the duet extended program. Wayzata placed first in eight of the meet's 15 separate routines. Donlin, Ree, Ogren and Lucy Liu earned all-state.
