• SECTION 6: Edina used three top-10 individual finishes to secure the boys’ Section 6 team championship. The Hornets finished with a score of 404.5 and move on to the state meet — where they finished sixth overall in 2013. Mankato West won the girls’ team championship with a score of 378.0.
Chanhassen’s Louis Nguyen took first in the individual championship with an overall time of 41.46. Rochester Century’s Kate Hanson placed first on the girls’ side with a time of 45.65.
• SECTION 1: Four top-15 individual finishes led Eagan to the Section 1 team championship. Seniors Josh Podpeskar (1), Jacob Edmond (3) and freshman Patrick Acton (9) all finished in the top 10 for the Wildcats. Eastview was named Section 1 champion on the girls’ side. Sophomores Margie Freed (1), Maria Berg (3) and Annika Martell (5) were all top-five for the Lightning.
Podpeskar won the boys’ individual championship with a total time of 30:23 and Freed won the girls’ individual title with a time of 35:04.
• SECTION 3: Minneapolis South cruised to victory in the boys’ Section 3 team championship. Senior Sam Coady led South with a time of 33:13 followed by teammates Jojo Baldus and Tyler Thomegreene — who both finished in the top 10. Burnsville took the Section 3 crown on the girls’ side with a score of 385.
Bloomington Kennedy junior Tamer Mische-Richter placed first overall on the boys’ side with a total time of 31:28. Burnsville senior Vivian Hett — who finished second at state last year — placed first overall with a total time of 33:44.
• TOTINO-GRACE 6, BENILDE-ST. MARGARET’S 4: Kai Barber recorded a hat trick and Nick Tandeski added two goals in the third period to lead Totino-Grace to an upset over Class 2A, No. 10 Benilde-St. Margaret’s. The Red Knights jumped to a 4-0 lead midway through the second period, but the Eagles came back. Joey Brey scored Totino-Grace’s first goal before Barber and Tandeski unloaded for the next five to notch the comeback win.
