9 Senior grapplers go out in style

Four seniors concluded their high school wrestling careers with individual titles in the state tournament at the Xcel Energy Center. In Class 2A, they were Lakeville South’s Tommy Petersen (195 pounds) and Eagan’s Colin Fisher (285 pounds). Simley crowned two champions in Class 1A in Jake Short (152 pounds) and Nick Wanzek (170 pounds).

10 Jumping to new heights

Two South Suburban Conference high jumpers swept the event in the Class 2A track and field state meet. Eastview senior Ryan Lockard won the boys’ title at 6 feet, 7 inches while Lakeville South sophomore Caraline Slattery garnered the girls’ crown at 5 feet, 8 inches.
