High school lacrosse and volleyball will see some minor changes in their sports after action Monday by the Minnesota State High School League's representative assembly. The 64- person assembly, which represents schools of all sizes from all over the state, unanimously approved these changes:
• The maximum number of games volleyball teams can play in any regular-season tournament was raised from 12 to 15, putting Minnesota in line with bordering states. Also, volleyball teams will be allowed to play two matches in one day; this should help reduce travel costs and travel time.
• The length of the lacrosse season will go from nine to 11 weeks, allowing more flexibility in scheduling and dealing with inclement weather. The number of regular-season games also will increase from 12 to 13.
