Big game from Vaughn paces Cooper over Fridley • COOPER 87, FRIDLEY 64: Junior guard Rashad Vaughn lived up to his billing as one of ESPN's top-10 juniors in the nation, scoring 27 points -- including three three-pointers during a second-half run as the Hawks broke open a close game with the Tigers on Friday night. Vaughn also had nine rebounds, six assists, six blocks and three assists for Cooper.

• APPLE VALLEY 68, BLOOMINGTON JEFFERSON 55: Tyus Jones had 15 points as the Eagles beat the Jaguars Friday night. Joining Jones in double figures were four teammates. Jacob Bodway paced the Cougars with 14 points.

• ST. AGNES 70, BROOKLYN CENTER 69 [OT]: Junior guard Nick Turch poured in a season-high 35 points -- six of them in overtime -- as the visiting Aggies broke a three-game losing streak.

Minneapolis hits double-digit scoring again in latest rout • MINNEAPOLIS 10, MORA/HINCKLEY-FINLAYSON 0: Under new coach Joe Dziedzic, the Minneapolis Novas are putting up some eye-popping goal totals. Henry Christman scored four times and Joe Guimont had two goals and four assists as the Novas scored at least 10 goals for the fifth consecutive game, outscoring opponents 56-3. Minneapolis has won nine games in a row to improve to 13-3-1.

GIRLS' BASKETBALL

•ANNANDALE 58, HUTCHINSON 52: Senior guard Kaytlin Kuefler continued her torrid scoring pace with a career-high 41 points as the Cardinals won their seventh game in a row, beating the Tigers.
