Four state champions highlight the field for today's Hamline Elite track meet, a gathering of the state's top performers who qualify via their performances so far this spring. The third annual event will begin at 5:30 p.m. at Hamline's Klas Stadium.
Burnsville senior Rob Finnerty, who has won Class 2A state titles in the 1,600 and 3,200 meters as well as in cross-country, is entered in the 1,600 meters. Finnerty and Irondale's Andy Richardson, who finished second and third in the 1,600 at the state meet last year, lead the field for today's 1,600.
Wayzata senior Jordan Helgren, who has won 2A titles in the long jump and triple jump, will compete in the triple jump. Other state champions in the field are Derek Jerde of Chaska in the boys' high jump and Zach Mellon of Buffalo in the boys' 800.
